Overpass is “an accident waiting to happen”

GLENROWAN Improvers group have continued their action to have the Beaconsfield Parade overpass relocated with a dramatic display to Rural City of Wangaratta representatives last Friday.

Wangaratta mayor Dean Rees, director of sustainable development Steven Schwarz and acting director infrastructure services Marcus Goonan witnessed firsthand the tight squeeze for vehicles and pedestrians on the Beaconsfield Parade overpass when B double trucks cross over.

Concerns about the ageing overpass were again raised recently when representatives from the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) outlined proposed plans to the Glenrowan rail line and historic precinct surrounding the railway station to incorporate the Inland Rail.
