    WANGARATTA councillors were last night expected to endorse moves designed to get the balance right for parking, and make pedestrian access and safety better in the city’s central business district (CBD).

    Actions included the installation of four pedestrian priority crossings at high foot-traffic locations, dropping the CBD speed limit to 40kph, and creating dynamic signage to encourage use of the multi-deck car park in Ovens Street.

    Council’s Wangaratta Car Parking Plan tabled last night noted the most “contentious” item raised by the majority of 36 respondents was the proposal in the draft plan to alter parking configuration along a section of Rowan Street to angle instead of the existing parallel format.
