    DESPITE a downgrading of the air quality warning by the Environment Protection Authority for today, local residents are not in the clear just yet.

    The poor air quality in the North East, including Wangaratta, Benalla, Mansfield, Bright and Beechworth area, stems from the bushfires burning across the North East, including the Rose River fire which began on Friday, as well as in Gippsland and the South East.

    The EPA said air quality was expected to improve yesterday afternoon but is still likely to be unhealthy for people with sensitivities today.
