• Smokehouse simmers over forced removal of its signs

    A PUSH for Milawa to maximise its tourism potential as a gourmet food destination is being hindered by council, according to a local business owner who feels victimised because he’s had to remove a promotional sign.

    Gamze Smokehouse started a business in Milawa last year but following a complaint about two signs positioned on farm land alerting tourists to their smallgoods business, council has forced them to remove the signs.

    The signs were located on the Snow Road on both approaches to Milawa but council says they conflicted with planning scheme regulations because they were positioned on rural zoned land.
