Retailers express concerns over suggested changes of parallel parking to angle spaces in Rowan Street

SEVERAL Rowan Street business owners are up in arms over plans to convert parking from parallel to angle spaces, a move they believe could cost them millions of dollars collectively in turnover per annum.

Under council’s draft Wangaratta Car Parking Plan parking will be changed in November to angle aligned spaces, taking away long vehicle parking potential between Ovens and Baker streets.

Businesses such as Wangaratta Adventure, Camping and Compleat Angler, the Salvos Store, Caltex and Rock and Road Cycles are united against the move because they believe the loss of clientele and income would be extremely detrimental.
