McCarthy hoping Ashlor can salute on special day of racing

LOCAL horse trainer Dan McCarthy will have extra motivation for tomorrow’s racing at Moonee Valley when he saddles up two runners in the same race on Cox Plate Day.

While the majority of the crowd will have eyes on Winx’s incredible charge towards a fourth straight Cox Plate, McCarthy will unleash Ashlor and Late Charge in the Strathmore Community Bendigo Bank Handicap over 955 metres.

Ashlor is every chance of saluting for McCarthy and if the five-year-old gets home, it will have extra meaning for McCarthy given his late father’s connection to Moonee Valley.
