Agent says today’s prices set up well for profits later

OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS: Landmark livestock agent Daniel Fischer is taking a ‘glass half full’ approach when looking at potential for beef cattle businesses for the season ahead.

STOCK agents are talking up this week’s Wangaratta spring weaner sale to be a unique opportunity for producers, dispelling doom and gloom suggestions of a lack of buyer confidence due to a dry winter in some areas.

Landmark livestock agent Daniel Fischer said the majority of the 2000 head to be yarded this Friday are going to be sold in the winter and spring of 2019 and the cattle market will bounce back by that stage.

“In a year’s time cattle are going to be quite pricey as the industry would have turned around by that stage so there is an opportunity to buy very good cattle at a much better rate than we’ve been able to buy them for the last three years,” Mr Fischer said.
