A SERVICE commemorating the 52nd anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan fought during the Vietnam War will be conducted in the 2/24th Infantry Battalion function room of the Wangaratta RSL sub-branch at 2pm tomorrow.

Vietnam Veteran Bryan Meehan (pictured) is the guest speaker at the service, which also marks the 50th anniversary of the battles of Fire Support Bases Coral and Balmoral.

Bryan, who was the handler of war dog Tiber (pictured with Lance Corporal Norm Cameron of 7RAR during Operation Paddington) was on the frontline in these battles, which lasted for 26 days and saw 26 Australian soldiers lose their lives, 100 wounded and at least 300 North Vietnamese estimated killed.
