NICE AND NEW: Woolworths will be removing single-use plastic bags next Wednesday, with Coles following soon after on July 1.

WANGARATTA Woolworths will be joining the nation-wide phase out of single-use plastic shopping bags in Woolworths supermarkets next week, as announced by Woolworths group chief executive officer Brad Banducci.

From Wednesday, June 20, the popular green, reusable bags available for customers to purchase in store are changing to a Bag for Good which will cost 99 cents and, when damaged, Woolworths will replace it for free, no matter when it was bought.

Woolworths will then recycle the old bag via the RedCycle program, available in all stores by the end of this month.
