$12,785 and counting donated to local Salvos’ Red Shield Appeal

THE Wangaratta community has yet again proved to be a very giving one.

The Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal, which has been held throughout May, and was punctuated by last weekend’s major tin rattle, has raised more than $12,000.

Wangaratta Salvation Army Captain Rosemary Massey was very happy with the effort, although it was slightly down on last year’s result.

“People are so generous in this town, we’re very happy with the donations,” she said.

“We had a few hiccups that were out of our hands, but we got through it.”
