WANGARATTA City will be forced to re-shape its defensive structures with skipper Stoycho Ivanov and veteran Ori Kara set to miss Sunday’s crucial clash against Melrose FC.
Ivanov has been suspended for one week by the league for picking up two yellow cards in the win over Myrtleford last week while Kara suffered a hamstring strain.
The Red Devils were unable to appeal Ivanov’s suspension due to a league ruling meaning the team will be without their best central defenders for the trip to Melrose Park.
Still, given the amount of depth within the City squad, coach Mario Antonello isn’t concerned about having to replace his star duo.
“Riley Hamilton was one of our best players last year at centre back so he could easily slot back there,” Antonello said.
“Nathan Lee pretty much played a full game for Ori last week so it’s a good opportunity for him to get his first start.
