CLOSE to a $9 million boost to the North East’s economy is expected to come out of the V8 Supercars Winton SuperSprint staged at the weekend.

Preliminary attendance results show 60,000 plus gate takings and along with revamped trackside merchandise, camping and entertainment, feedback coming to organisers has been outstanding.

Accommodation was reportedly booked out in Wangaratta and Benalla rural cities, with some in Shepparton.

Supercar teams have also again given the Winton track the thumbs up due to its high grip surface giving drivers the ability to push their cars to the limit.

Spectators weren’t disappointed with Rick Kelly and Fabian Coulthard scoring their first wins of 2018.
