ONE of only two state of the art CFA mobile command vehicles (MCV), valued at almost $500,000 each, is now stationed in Wangaratta.
The purpose built vehicle will not only convey specialist crews and equipment to emergency incidents but also provide a focal point on or near the disaster site.
CFA District 23 operations officer Brett Myers said the new vehicle, which replaces a 1983 Hino that has served locally since 1991, will add a new level of sophistication and capability for emergency services dealing with major incidents.
“This can be used anywhere in the Hume region and has already been used at fires in the King Valley, Bungeet and Thoona,” Mr Myers said.
“It’s a sophisticated resource that can go anywhere.”
