    It's estimated the round at Winton Motor Raceway will generate around $9 million for the immediate region from an estimated crowd of 30,000 to 40,000 spectators, competitors, support teams and media.

    WANGARATTA is in poll position to receive a massive economic injection from the Winton V8 Super Sprint races this weekend.

    Benalla Auto Club operations manager Wayne Williams told the Wangaratta Chronicle he estimated the event will generate around $9 million for the immediate region from an estimated crowd of 30,000 to 40,000 spectators, competitors, support teams and media.

    “Fox Sports is sending 100 people on its own to cover the event,” Mr Williams said.

    “The camping area has outsold anything we have seen in the past and pre-sales are also strong.

    “I’m predicting it will be one of the biggest crowds we have seen yet.”

    He said the lack of free to air television coverage was another boost for the local circuit.
