A PLANNED burn along the Snow Road from the Hume Freeway through to Markwood will be conducted this month to significantly reduce the impact of fires in the area.

District 23 Country Fire Authority (CFA) firefighters plan to perform the planned burn this Sunday.

More than 100 personnel from 25 brigades in Moyhu and Wangaratta will be involved in conducting the burn.

Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria District 23 Volunteer Leadership Group spokesperson, Garry Nash, said the planned burn which has been in the works for years will promote community safety.

“It’s along the east-west corridor so having a good fuel-reduced area will change the impact of fires significantly,” he said.
