IT took until the last quarter for Wodonga to score its first goal, such was Wangaratta’s dominance.
Nine multiple goal kickers, a dedication to the game plan and a singular focus to punish Wodonga at every interval saw the Magpies boot 29.21 (195) to 1.4 (10) in a monumental 185-point win on Saturday.
With the inclusion of Craig Evans into the side, the consistency that Wangaratta has been working on came to the fore in a big way.
Michael Newton kicked five goals, with Brad Melville and Jessie Smith booting four majors and Joe Richards and Mitch Jensen adding three apiece as the Bulldogs struggled to find answers.
The first half of the match was easily the best the Magpies have kicked by foot this season.
“In both the senior and reserve grades, the first half is maybe the best we have executed by foot and in our game plan as we have all year,” Magpies’ coach Dean Stone said.
