• No takers for ‘shark tank’ Co-Store space

    A COMPETITION that offered 12 months’ free rent in Wangaratta’s Co-Store has been cancelled following the withdrawal of its remaining participants.

    The council run initiative called for local people with innovative business ideas to enter the ‘shark tank’ type of competition called The Trading Ground, with the contestants expected to pitch their ideas to judges this Saturday.

    However, the three competition entrants informed council they no longer wanted to pursue their business venture due to a range of reasons.

    “We had three people with innovative business ideas but they have now withdrawn,” council chief executive officer Brendan McGrath confirmed.

    “One was relocating to a different area, another had their business online and wanted to develop it more before they took on a retail space, and the third thought the Co-Store was not the right location for their business.”
