WANGARATTA has won two games in a row for the first time this season after comfortably accounting for Corowa/Rutherglen by 120 points on Saturday at the John Foord Oval.
Despite some wayward kicking in front of goal, especially from new recruit Mitch Jensen, who finished with 1.8, the Magpies were never threatened.
Jensen, Joe Richards (four goals) and Daniel Sharrock were brilliant while defenders Dylan Van Berlo and Jamie Anderson impressed.
Before the match, coach Dean Stone said the Magpies needed to become more consistent and spearhead Michael Newton said that was still a work in progress.
“We played well in patches,” Newton said.
“Credit to Corowa though, they have improved since Marc Almond took over – they tried some different things and had a red-hot crack.
