WANGARATTA council is waiting to see how much it will get from a $940 million 2018/19 state budget pie for roads.
Rural city mayor Ken Clarke said Wangaratta has 1300km of unsealed roads and they are playing constant catch up with a priority list for road maintenance and upgrades.
Council’s draft budget to be released on Monday is expected to have about $10 million allocated for roads in the municipality but this will be ratepayer funded.
This is off the back of a $10 million allocation in the current budget.
“We prioritise roads funding and we cop a lot of flak from people throughout the city about the state of roads,” Cr Clarke said.
