HAWK STAR BACK

WANGARATTA Rovers’ prospects of breaking through for their first win of the season tomorrow have been boosted with star midfielder Alex Marklew certain to line up.
Marklew had missed the first two rounds through VFL commitments with Essendon, however, with four players returning, Marklew was an unlucky omission.
However, Essendon’s decision is ultimately the Hawks’ gain with co-coaches Sam Carpenter and Ross Hill delighted to have Marklew back for the clash with North Albury at the WJ Findlay Oval.
Marklew was disappointed not to retain his spot in the Bombers’ line-up but has already turned his attention to putting his brown and gold jumper back on.
“It’s what I signed up for so I just need to make sure I’m in form when spots open up,” he said.
“It’s been a long two years being away from Rovers so it’ll be good to get back there and see a few familiar faces.
