A WANGARATTA retirement home resident has made waves within the industry with his campaign seeking major reforms.
Les Scobie has launched a petition demanding all state governments introduce reforms to address ongoing concerns of retirement village residents.
“People don’t really have a good understanding of what’s happening to them when they move into a retirement village,” Mr Scobie said.
“Their asset base dwindles over time and when it’s time for people to enter aged care they can really struggle.”
Mr Scobie said his campaign offers a different perspective to others, calling for reforms because of his 11 years lived experience in a retirement village and his background in banking.
