YOU should expect to see Highway Patrol vehicles everywhere as police focus on ridding the roads of dangerous, drink and drug affected drivers this long weekend.
Motorists, who speed, use their phones, drive without seatbelts, drink or drug drive or who are fatigued, are being warned they’ll be caught during the four day statewide road policing Operation Arid.
Wangaratta Highway Patrol’s Sergeant Michael Connors urged drivers to be safe to ensure no one is injured or killed on the roads.
“If you are going to drink then don’t drive because you will be caught and there will be zero tolerance for impaired driving,” he said.
“There is no need to speed, if you get pulled over by police we don’t want to hear excuses because there’s no excuse for speeding.
