LLOYD Wright is gearing up to play the biggest game of his life.
The former Yarrawonga and Wangaratta basketball product will suit up for Orange Coast County Pirates in the State Elite Eight game against Fresno City on Friday night (Los Angeles time).
It has been a standout year for Wright who ‘red-shirted’ for the 2016-17 season to recover his knee and while a back injury floored the six foot five forward for a five-game stretch in early December, Wright has enjoyed a stellar season on the court.
With averages of 16.3 points per game, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, Wright leads his team in points and scored a career-high 34 points against LA Southwest on December 16.
Orange Coast College’s head coach Steve Spencer praised Lloyd, not only as the leading scorer, but hitting the big shots down the stretch.
“Lloyd wants the ball when the game is tight – he has hit a number of game winners in this conference season – I could not be prouder of the guys,” Coach Spencer said.
