Strategy maps changing face of health services

A REGIONAL health organisation specialising in men’s behavioural change, alcohol and other drugs, disability support services, and aged care has put ‘community’ at the core of its focus for the next three years.

Gateway Health, which provides an extended range of services to Wangaratta, Albury-Wodonga and Alpine areas, is constantly adapting to changing health demands and services and this week launched its 2017-2020 strategic plan.

Driving the vision is chief executive officer Leigh Rhode, and she spoke of how development of its 300-strong workforce over the next few years will be in correlation with community needs.

A recommendation under the Royal Commission into Family Violence was supported in the form of men’s behaviour change programs and Gateway Health is one of the few providers that tackle the issue.

“A lot of the programs are in their infancy at the early stages of development and I think being at the forefront of that work we’ve got an opportunity to lead and inform service development in that area,” Ms Rhode said about the men’s behaviour programs.
