BRENDAN Liddell has capped off a fine individual season by taking out the men’s singles championship on Sunday, defeating multiple club champion Matt Allen in straight sets.
In a match that ebbed and flowed, Liddell grabbed the first set narrowly before hanging on to win 10-8 in the second set tiebreaker to secure the title 6/4 7/6.
Having been beaten by Allen in last year’s semi final, Liddell was relieved to finally have a singles title to his name.
“I’m pretty pumped with it,” he said.“It’s a massive relief to finally win one.
“Matt is just so tough to beat – he doesn’t give you any free points and makes you work for everything.
