ANGELOLOGY soared down the home straight to claim the 2018 Wangaratta Cup.
The Patrick Payne-trained nine-year old gelding, ridden by jockey Billy Egan snatched its first win since July last year in masterful fashion.
In a winning time of 2.07 for the 2000 metre main event yesterday, Angelology won by one and a half lengths from David and B Hayes and T Dabernig’s Velox.
Racing on a good-four track, the $80,000 Wangaratta Cup was Angelology’s 21st win of its career.
Egan always thought Angelology had a chance to win, given the jump races on the horses’ horizon.
“I think he needed a good race on the flat and he did that,” Egan said.
