WANGARATTA premiership hero Josh Porter is looking forward to returning to the challenges of VFL football after deciding to rejoin Werribee for the 2018 season.
Porter decided late Tuesday night that he would return to the VFL after having a year away from the state league competition, winning a premiership at Wangaratta and studying at East Carolina University.
“It was all about challenging myself,” Porter said of the decision.
“I wanted to have another crack at the VFL and the highest level of football I can play while I am still relatively young.
“I had a big chat to John Lamont (Werribee coach) on Tuesday night and he swayed me to come back.”
Werribee will be a standalone club in 2018, with the AFL affiliation with North Melbourne stopping following the end of the 2017 season.
