MARRIAGE proposals, birthday celebrations and a chance for friendly rivalry were all celebrated alongside Essendon and Richmond’s visit to Wangaratta as part of the JTL community series preseason match on Saturday.
Norm Minns Oval was awash with black, yellow and red, with deck chairs and picnic blankets a common sight along the fence line as around 8000 people packed into the ground for the game while others enjoyed a touch of luxury on the balconies.
Among those there to celebrate as well as enjoy the contest was Scott Bell, who was joined by around 30 family and friends wishing him a happy birthday while they watched the match.
A mad Essendon fan, Mr Bell’s team tattoo was on display as he cheered for the Dons.
And while the Bombers didn’t give him the win he was hoping for, he said he enjoyed the event nonetheless.
