Interstate Blues a thing of the past

CARLTON will aim to put a poor travelling record behind them when they take on Greater Western Sydney in Sydney tonight.

The Blues held off Collingwood in a low-scoring opening round affair at Ikon Park last Friday night, and will need a similar effort to grab an interstate win over the Giants.

An AFLW captains survey saw four captains vote for Melbourne to make the grand final in 2018, and if Greater Western Sydney’s performance against the Demons on Saturday is anything to go by, Carlton should be wary of tonight’s opponents.

Former Wangaratta junior footballer Darcy Vescio was well-held in round one gathering nine disposals, but finished with four tackles to help her side in other ways playing deep in the Blues’ forward line.

Vescio said her teammates had pulled up well from the first game of the season.

“The players have recovered well after Friday night’s game against the Pies, it was a tough, physical contest so we were very glad to walk away with the win,” Vescio said.
