THE Rural City of Wangaratta is offering free entry to the Olympic Pool today to give residents some relief from a predicted top of 40 degrees Celsius.

Free entry will be available at the Swan Street pool from 3.30pm until 8.30pm and at the Mitchell Avenue Splash Park throughout the summer season.

A heat health alert has been issued for North East Victoria, with VicEmergency advising people to take care by drinking water, keeping cool, planning ahead and helping others.

VicEmergency also urged residents to remember not to leave any kids, adults or pets in cars.

Further information about surviving the heat can be found at www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/campaigns/survive-the-heat or emergency.vic.gov.au/respond.
