THE swift action of two local tradies has saved a Crisp Street home from going up in flames according to a senior CFA officer.
Brenton Cooper and Lachie Bedendo from building firm ‘Crafted By Coops’ were working on a house extension in Harper Street on Monday when they smelt something burning.
The smell lingered for a couple of hours according to Brenton, who thought it was probably coming from the industrial estate.
“Then we saw black smoke coming up over the back fences,” Brenton told the Wangaratta Chronicle.
“I grabbed a ladder and got on the roof of the shed on the block we were working on and that’s when I could see the flame at the back of a house.”
