ALES on the Ovens craft beer festival further cemented its growing popularity, and importance on Wangaratta’s annual calendar of events, with an outstanding day of entertainment in Apex Park on Saturday.
While headline act the Pierce Brothers lived up to their lofty expectations and had much of the crowd dancing into the evening, an array of local talented performers such as Matt McIntyre helped ensure the event was as much about the music throughout the day as it was craft beers.
Warm weather, a comfy mix of lounge suites and hay bales, and the combination of live music and cold craft brews was enjoyed by many of the estimated 1200 people in attendance.
For those under 18 – and there were many at this family friendly event – free ice creams and pop corn, a petting zoo, organised sports activities and games like egg and spoon races and sack races all helped keep them entertained, adding to the relaxing atmosphere for their parents.
For Lauren Gilfuis and Chelsea Larkings, the event provided the perfect excuse to return home from Melbourne and Geelong and catch-up with friends.
