THE Rural City of Wangaratta has identified six priorities crucial to growing investment and jobs throughout the region.

And council is working to attract attention and funding support to the projects.

Topping the list is the Wangaratta Aquatics Plan, and others are the Wangaratta railway precinct redevelopment, support for country roads and bridges, Hume Corridor passenger rail, mobile black spot program, and the Wangaratta Art Gallery redevelopment.

Council is meeting with state and federal politicians to raise awareness of the priorities.

Rural city mayor Ken Clarke and chief executive officer Brendan McGrath have met with Cathy McGowan (MHR, Indi) and Government Senator Jane Hume, while Cr Harvey Benton has met with deputy leader of the Nationals and Minister for Sport, Rural Health and Regional Communications Senator Bridget McKenzie.
