CONSTRUCTION of stage one of Northeast Health Wangaratta’s (NHW) $15.2 million redevelopment is set to commence early in 2019, and take up to two years to complete.

NHW announced the consultancy team to guide the project yesterday following on from a competitive tender process and the successful contractors meeting with NWH board and executive representatives this week.

The redevelopment was announced last April and will be funded through the State Government’s Regional Health Infrastructure Fund.

A further submission for stage two of the redevelopment of approximately $7 million has also been submitted and if successful the redevelopment will be combined to make for one redevelopment project.

Stage one of the redevelopment will include the establishment of an updated site Master Plan, a new Critical Care Unit (CCU) being built above the existing emergency department, an expanded emergency department, a relocated and refurbished oncology service and an additional seven inpatient ward beds in the ward occupied by the current CCU.
