A FORMER local woman killed in a hang gliding accident at Forbes on Saturday will be remembered for her brilliant smile, sense of fun, and adventurous spirit.
Emma Martin, a 31 year old former Glenrowan Primary and Wangaratta High School student, died while competing to defend her sport class title at the annual Forbes Flatlands International Hang Gliding Competition.
Her sister, Kylea Martin, said the knowledge that Emma died following the sport she had embraced wholeheartedly over the past four years had been an “enormous comfort” to her family, including her Glenrowan parents Terry and Janet.
“That’s what she loved, that was her passion, and the hang gliding community was her second family,” Kylea said.
“It gives us great comfort to know she didn’t suffer, and that she was doing something she loved so much.
“It was her absolute passion, and she was doing it every weekend.
“One of her fellow hang gliders said when he saw her earlier in the day, she had a great big smile on her face, and that’s what we’ll remember.”
