Rising basketball stars on tour in United States

TRIP OF A LIFETIME: Players from Wangaratta and across North East are currently on an 18-day tour of the United States, where they will play against American high school and college teams and visit NCAA facilities.

TWO teams made up of local representative basketball players began their tour of America yesterday.

Twenty-two players will make the journey with parents in tow for an 18-day playing tour.

The North East Bushrangers’ Big V development team will form one of the teams, while the second team will comprise Wangaratta Warriors’ current under 18 side with a number of overage players included.

Jacqui and Emma Henry will coach the teams which will play six games between Texas and North Carolina as well as a three-day tournament in Austin, Texas before spending four days in California.

The Bushranger teams will play high school teams and freshman college sides before competing in the tournament.

“Jacqui and I have been on these trips before but we know that it is a great experience for the players,” Emma Henry said.
