WANGARATTA Swimming Club is gearing up for what promises to be a massive weekend, not only for the club but for the town as a whole.
With 440 swimmers taking part in the Victorian Country Short Course Championships, Wangaratta Indoor Sports and Aquatic Centre will be a buzz with activity over the next two days.
For the 15 Wangaratta Swimming Club members competing, head coach Mark Synnot said the excitement factor was enormous.
“Being a country club, our main focus is the country championships,” Synnot said.
“Even though we will have swimmers at the state championships, and one or two at the long course national championships, for the bulk of our members, this is the big event.
“In some respects this is our grand final, so it’s terrific to be hosting it at our home.”
