McGowan still behind pool bid

Council to meet Monday to discuss options

CATHY McGowan (MHR, Indi) will continue to fly the flag for Wangaratta council in its request for government funding for a new pool if council decides that’s the way it wants to go.

Councillors and executives at council will meet next Monday to map out a way forward after three failed attempts to secure $4.4 million in Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) grant money.

Ms McGowan said she was “very disappointed” that funding wasn’t approved for the council again.

“I plan to continue my support for Wangaratta council in its bid for a pool if they want to push forward with another application for BBRF money,” Ms McGowan said.

“We must first wait to hear what was missing in council’s latest application and also wait for the outcome of their meeting next week before we figure out a way forward.

“The aquatic facility is an important project for the community.”
