A SIX-goal to one third term spelled doom for the Wangaratta Rovers yesterday as Wodonga Bulldogs pushed the Hawks away to run out 65-point winners.
The Bulldogs were pressured all game with turnovers aplenty for both sides but the visitors were able to hit the scoreboard frequently to keep the Hawks at bay.
A 4.3 to 2.1 opening stanza gave the Bulldogs the breathing space they needed to push on in the second term.
Jarrod Hodgkin got the Bulldogs moving quickly, with Trent Williamson’s work in the forward line setting up a number of avenues to goal for Wodonga as they went into the half time break up by 28 points, 8.8 to 4.4.
After a brief period of resistance in the third term the Bulldogs pushed hard.
Booting six goals to one, the margin was blown out to 58 points at three quarter time.
