GLENROWAN has moved up to third spot on the O&K senior ladder following a 213-point shellacking of North Wangaratta at the Norm Minns Oval on Sunday.
The gulf in class between the two sides was evident from the outset, but it wasn’t until the third quarter that the Kelly Tigers switched into top gear, piling on 12.11 to nothing to stretch a 75-point halftime buffer out to 158 points by the last change.
From there the carnage continued as Jordy Hansted (five goals), Chris Sussyer, Nick Lawrence and Karl Norman led Glenrowan to the 34.26 (230) to 2.5 (17) triumph.
Matt Robinson (6), Matt Campbell (5), Mat Duffy (5) and Mitch Kilner (4) also got in on the goal fest for the Tigers, with Ashley Johnson, Jamie Berry and Darryn White North Wangaratta’s best.
Seemingly back in top form, the Tigers should get through the next couple of weeks comfortably against Whorouly and Bonnie Doon, before a tough four week stretch sees them face Milawa, Goorambat, Benalla and Tarrawingee in succession.
Meanwhile, Bonnie Doon trio Brenton Campbell, Jordan Prior and Stuart Johnstone will all be unavailable for this weekend’s clash with Benalla All Blacks after each accepted a one match set penalty for separate charges arising from last Saturday’s loss to Whorouly.
