A DEPLETED senior Knights outfit was defeated but not dejected on Sunday, as Wodonga stormed past them 56-0.

Held try-less, the senior Knights fought valiantly until full time, with concerted efforts particularly by Jayden Goullet, Samuel Michalowski and Uatoa Velei.

Coach and president, Leigh Drage, said the Knights went onto the field one man down from the outset, with 12 players to Wodonga Storm’s 13.

This lack of manpower was exacerbated during the first term when Luke Ferguson suffered a sprained ankle, leaving the local lads with 11.

Unable to man up, the Knights left holes which the experienced Storm outfit capitalised upon time and time again.

“It was a tall order to go up against a side with 11 players versus 13 plus six on the bench,” Drage said.
