WANGARATTA City missed a golden opportunity to take a stranglehold on top spot on the Albury Wodonga Football Association ladder on Sunday, slipping to a 2-3 loss against Melrose FC at Lavington.

The Red Devils twice led, with George El Kotta making it 1-0 at the break after a goal late in the first half, and Adam Burchell converting a penalty at 67 minutes to make it 2-1 after Josh O’Brien had equalised.
