FAMILY members, neighbours and the wider community are still struggling to come to grips with a devastating murder-suicide at a Wangaratta home on Tuesday.

Police believe Greg Floyd, 43, used a high-powered rifle to shoot his partner Ora Holt, 39, before turning the gun on himself, in an incident that has baffled family members.

A family member spoke to the Wangaratta Chronicle yesterday, describing Mr Floyd as a “loving father” and said they were at a loss to explain the tragedy.

He said relatives had rallied together since the incident, taking care of the couple’s four primary school-aged children.

Neighbours yesterday continued to lay floral tributes at the home in Belle Avenue, with residents from the West End neighbourhood describing their shock about the events that unfolded.

Others took to Facebook to offer condolences and share their grief, describing Ms Holt as a wonderful mother and community member.
