A SIZZLING second half display against Hotspurs led Wangaratta City to its fourth win of the Albury Wodonga Football Association season, and back to the top of the ladder, on Sunday.
After stalling at a 1-0 advantage for much of the first half the Red Devils finally broke the game open when Adam Burchell found the back of the net just before the break.
From there they carried momentum into the second half, with Burchell adding another two goals to register his third hat trick of the season, ultimately chalking up a 6-0 victory.
The Devils missed Ryan van der Steeg’s influence, with the midfield star sidelined by a knee injury.
But assistant coach Mario Antonello said the side was able to find some structure in the second half, with Burchell and Connor Heffernan outstanding.
“We definitely noticed the difference, not having Dutchy (van der Steeg) out there,” Antonello said.
