ALMOST $870,000 worth of street works will be carried out at Wangaratta’s Park Lane to fix congestion and roadside degradation issues which caused flooding in the area.

It will help during peak times of sporting activities at the HP Barr Reserve, especially on weekends, with Wangaratta Auskick’s under 10s starting their season this Sunday, ahead of the under 6s and 8s kicking off on April 30.

Some 66 angle parking spaces will be installed on the eastern side of Park Lane to the north of the HP Barr Reserve access road.

This will include an upgrade to the drainage network so regular ponding of stormwater is minimised in the adjacent swale drain.

The parking bays will be sealed and positioned at 45 degree angles, along with kerb and channel installation.

Wangaratta Auskick president Paul Flynn welcomed the announcement and said it would improve conditions particularly after rain events.
