WANGARATTA City heads into the Easter bye weekend sitting second on the Albury Wodonga Football Association table following a gritty 2-2 draw with Albury United on Sunday.

The Red Devils twice fought back from a deficit, with a late Adam Burchell penalty shot equalising the match.

While frustrated at being unable to claim a fourth straight victory, Wangaratta assistant coach Mario Antonello said a draw in unfavourable conditions was a satisfying result.

“I think when everyone woke up on Sunday and saw all the rain, United would have been very happy,” Antonello said.

“We try to keep the ball and play a possession game, and when you have wet conditions it becomes difficult to do that.

“Having said that, we played on ground two and it held up well, so the weather wasn’t as much of a hindrance as we had thought.
