Devils aim to keep on winning

HITTING the Easter weekend without a loss and having a well earned break is the motivation behind Wangaratta City winning their match this Sunday against Albury United.

The Red Devils have conceded just one goal for the season, and demolished Wodonga Diamonds 5-nil to hit Sunday’s match in very good early season form and sit atop of the Albury Wodonga Football Association table, just one goal ahead of Melrose FC in second.

Assistant coach Mario Antonello said after some early season complacency, the Devils hit their straps against Wodonga Diamonds.

“We were pretty happy to beat Diamonds, they’re always a bit of an unknown,” Antonello said.

“I know traditionally they’re always thereabouts in terms of finals, but they have picked up a few recently and we knew we would be in for a fight.

“For the first 15 minutes we were in control and able to jump out to a two-goal lead.
