ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: Wangaratta mum Tania Maxwell is meeting with key politicians on today.

A REPORT released last week by the Victorian Auditor-General showing a massive jump in the number of high-risk offenders on community correction orders (CCOs) highlighted the failures of the justice system according to #ENOUGHISENOUGH co-founder Tania Maxwell.

“It’s a perfect example of the disgraceful condition of the justice system,” Ms Maxwell said.

“The whole justice system needs an overhaul.”

The report revealed that the number of high-risk offenders on CCOs in 2013 was 285, 4.9 per cent of the total, which ballooned out to 3180 high-risk offenders in 2016, 27.1 per cent of the 11,730 on CCOs.

Ms Maxwell is in Melbourne today to meet with Opposition spokesperson for Community Safety Edward O’Donohue, and Shadow Attorney General John Pesutto on Monday

She said she will be discussing her major concerns with the justice system including the Bail Act, the proposed night courts, the role of bail justices and standard sentencing for recidivist violent and sexual offenders that was recommended in June last year.
