WANGARATTA faced up to undefeated Wodonga at home on Saturday and dished it right up to the ladder leaders.

It was only a late rush of shots from Wodonga that denied Wangaratta a chance of victory.

Trevor Selwood’s rink had a great battle with Peter McLarty, falling by just one shot (22-23), while it was a similar story for Ian Brimblecombe’s rink against Ashley, and Davies secured two shots on the last end to defeat McDonald by three (27-30).

With only 10 ends to play Wangaratta was in with a real chance, with only eight shots overall between the two sides, but Mark Coulston’s Wodonga rink finished with a flourish to pick up 12 shots over the last five ends against Maurie Braden’s rink.

Braden’s rink had reduced an 11-shot deficit down to seven before falling by 19 shots (16-35).

Final scores: Wangaratta (0 points) 86 shots lost to Wodonga (18 points) 110 shots.
