AUSTRALASIAN CHAMP: Ryan Breese (left) and his manager Mike Altumura with the IBF super-middleweight Australasian title belt.

WANGARATTA-born boxer Ryan Breese is now the Australasian IBF super-middleweight title holder after he won his most recent fight in Flemington, last Friday.

Breese came up against Tej Singh, an experienced boxer, in the main event at the Melbourne Pavilion, Flemington for the vacant Australasian IBF super-middleweight title.

“It was a scruffy fight, Singh threw Ryan around a bit, he tried to cramp him,” Breese’s father, Rick Breese, said.

“I kept telling him to move around him, ‘he is trying to cramp you, move your feet’, I said.”

“Ryan’s footwork is one of his strengths and through this it allowed him to land a few more cleaner punches.”

Breese secured the victory after 10 rounds, and a split points decision with the three judges scoring the fight 97-93, 94-96, 99-91 in Breese’s favour.
